COVID is creating chaos, but it doesn’t mean your mental health has to suffer. Therapy is not cancelled!

Our nervous systems are wired to assess and survive threat. They stay on alert, get past the threat, and then we move on.

The scariest part about COVID-19 is we can’t see the threat so it’s difficult to assess the threat. Bottom line, our nervous systems are in overdrive.

We’re on high alert, washing our hands, wearing masks, practicing physical distancing, and staying home.

But what are you doing to tend to your mental health?

Isolation, anxiety, fear, and feeling like the world is upside-down is the perfect storm brewing for long-term effects on our mental health.

Did you know that telehealth therapy is still an option?

That’s right, you do not have to go through this global crisis alone.

Many therapists, including myself, are offering telehealth sessions allowing you to receive therapy from the comfort of your home.

“But is it as effective as in-person therapy?”

The answer is “yes”.

Research studies have shown that clients can still have effective outcomes using telehealth services.

Here are a few things for you to consider when seeking telehealth services:

  1. You have more options. With more therapists now online, you now have more therapists to choose from. Find someone in your state that is offering telehealth & request a consultation. For TX residents, I offer a no-cost 15-minute phone consultation to find out how I might be able to support you & determine whether it’s a good fit. (CLICK HERE to schedule your consultation.)
  2. Stay home, stay safe. Minimizing your potential of contracting/spreading COVID-19, telehealth allows you to receive the support you need in the comfort of your own home.
  3. Get relationship support during a crisis. You may be finding yourself with less patience and greater irritability. Maybe you’re snapping more at your partner. Telehealth sessions can help you & your partner with the coping skills you need for your relationship to survive quarantine.

Many things may be cancelled these days, but…

Healing is NOT cancelled.
Healing can happen at a distance.
Healing can be facilitated online.

Don’t wait for this crisis to blow over before you tend to your self-care.

Now more than ever before,
we need healing.
