Eliza Boquin, MA, LMFT, Relationship + Certified Sex Therapist

Hi, I’m Eliza.

Welcome to my little corner of the internet.

I’m truly honored that you’re here.

I understand how challenging it can be to find the right therapist. The online search can be daunting, confusing, and overwhelming.

So let me provide you with some information about me to help make your selection process a bit easier.

For starters, I work with a very select group of people.

Why?

Because I genuinely believe that if you try to help everyone with everything, you end up doing an okay job.

My clients deserve more than an okay job; they deserve expert, specialized care.

My priority is supporting Black and Latino/Latina/Latinx/Latine communities because there are so few therapists in the mental health field who can relate to the unique stressors we experience daily.

I know how exhausting it can to have a therapist pathologize your culture because they haven’t done the work to keep their biases in check.

You may be wondering about my credentials.

I have extensive training in sex therapy–graduated from the prestigious University of Michigan’s Sex Therapy program.  I’m a member of AASECT (American Association for Sexuality Educators, Counselors, Therapists) and have served as a board member. I hold a master’s degree in relationship therapy from the University of Houston Clear Lake.  I also have specialized training in treating trauma through somatic experiencing and am a certified energy healing practitioner.

As proud as I am of my education and training, I believe what truly enhances my skills is my understanding and incorporation of the ancient healing practices of my Indigenous ancestors.

As Black and Brown folks, we have often been told that therapy isn’t for us.

But the truth is, our communities have always sought healing.

We didn’t call it therapy; we called it “seeking counsel.”

Our ancestors existed in communities with an elder or medicine man/woman, the curandera who provided healing and wisdom.

They knew that healing the mind was just one aspect of wellness; they took a holistic approach to treat the whole person.

As a result, I take great pride in blending ancient healing wisdom and practices with modern-day therapy.

Should you decide you want to work together, my promise to you is to show up with compassion, empathy, expert knowledge, and care.

I will be committed to your therapy goals and will hold you accountable by lovingly challenging you when needed.

If any of this resonates with you, let’s chat.

Let’s have a conversation where we discuss what’s bringing you to therapy and whether I can support you with that.

If we’re aligned, we’ll book something for you and get started as soon as possible.
